It can also be used to help suppress the virus, to prevent symptoms from reappearing.DosageFor an initial outbreak of genital herpes, the recommended dose is 400mg three times a day for five days.If you have more than six outbreaks of genital herpes a year, it is recommended to take a suppression course of 400mg twice a day for three months.
