Please note that oral HRT is licensed for use in women who have not had a period in 12 consecutive months. These tablets usually contain estradiol. This can help to replace oestrogen deficiency and a synthetic form of progesterone. Some tablets contain both hormones; some have a 14-day cycle of a single hormone with a 14-day cycle of combined hormones or only contain oestrogen.
